Tumor Flare or Not???

Posted by stephanie on May 18th, 2007

We returned from Houston. The news is ok. The scans showed numerous more tumors in my liver but no other new places. They are not sure if this is something called a “tumor flare” or progression of my disease. A “tumor flare” is something that sometimes happens when you start a new medication; the tumors flares in response to the medication and then gets beaten down. My tumor markers and my liver enzymes are holding for now. Praise God! The plan is to continue the current treatment plan. I am supposed to have my lab work drawn every two weeks here at home. If my liver enzymes, climb we will start weekly chemo. We return to Houston the last week of June and re-evaluate. I visit my local oncologist today.

The family is leaving soon for Minnesota for a Gaworski family gathering. I am so excited; we haven’t seen the entire group since David was 5. John has seven brothers & sisters. As many of you know Jennifer is graduating this year. Jennifer and I have never taken a “girls trip”
and she has asked for this for graduation. I have a friend that lives in Honolulu; I’ve never been. She said we could stay with her. We are working hard to make this happen.

So my mighty prayer warriors, need a task? Let us pray for a “tumor flare” and not progression of my cancer. I will be faithful and stand strong. Some days are tougher than others but I know God has a plan. I pray his will is done. I have a friend that sends me a small monthly publication called “Good Stuff”. It is a monthly collection of Insights and Inspiration. This one touched my heart. “Cherish your family and friends as if your life depends on it” - Ann Richards
