You will be missed more than you will ever know. Your smile, your laugh, and the amount of love you had for your family helped me get through some tough times. Thank you for always being someone I was proud to look up to.

Now she is with PaPa refining the harps in heaven. We will all miss her here on earth but I know she is in a better place. After spending these last few days with her I feel her spirt had already left this earth a few days ago and it was just her body that remained here.

    STEPH, GO WITH GOD

There’s an old hymn I’m thinking of right now…………”When I die Hallelujah by and by,I’ll fly away”………..” She’s with Jesus……..AND if there’s baseball in heaven, she’ll be coaching and playing. Give my Grandparents a big hug Stephanie, they’ll be really glad to get to know you! It has been an honor to be your friend and sit with you, esp. this last year, watching David and Ridge play baseball. We are keeping ALL your family in our prayers…..Teresa Cavender

  6. Linda Noonan Says:

Heaven definitely has a new angel. One of the most glorious things about heaven is that the word “cancer” is totally unknown to those who abide there.

I am sure that if there is a baseball field in Heaven, Steph is there taking pictures and cheering on the teams loudly.

Thank you Jesus for allowing Stephanie to be a part of our lives!

  13. Kathe Says:

    Steph,
We had many converstions about how we are just a piece of the puzzle in God’s plan. We did not know how or why but we had to believe. Now that your are in heaven you have your answer. I may not have my answer yet but there are some things that I do know.
1.I can say without doubt that you are receiving the kindness in heaven that you practiced on earth.
    2. You are going to spend your days in your Mazda with the top off, driving as fast as you can with the sun out, a breeze blowing, and a smile on your face.
    3. You will take the most beautiful pictures ever and share them with all of the other angels that are there with you.
    4. And of course based on our baseball history. Your nights will be spent under the lights on your field of dreams. Your pitchers will only have perfect games, your batters will all experience walk off homeruns, and there will be no errors in the field!
I miss you and love you
    Kathe (HCF)

I was a childhood friend of Stephanie. And worked in the insurance office with my father Carl Smith who had Stephanie & Johns insurance for years. I have known the Basham family my entire life. God bless you all with strength I pray through this difficult time. She is in a better place and will be keeping a watchfull eye on you all. John, David, Jennifer and the entire Basham family now has a guardian angel watching over them. I hope in some small way that brings you peace.
    Love
    Rebecca

  20. beth fain Says:

I am reminded of the last words of a Thanksgiving hymn…”Servant, well done.” Stephanie was able to lift everyone else around her above her cancer, and now SHE has been lifted up.
I grew up two doors down from her, and even as a little girl, Stephanie was just so COOL. She was unflappable even then, and had more of a saunter than a walk. It seems that God used her as a catalyst for spiritual growth for so many, and now she has been rewarded. Our love and prayers to her parents, Joan and Ed, her sisters, Elaine and Kim, and John,Jennifer and David. John and Beth Fain

  21. Bret & Shanna Dinkins Says:

John, Jennifer & David , Ed & Joan , Kim and Elaine,

Thank you so very much for sharing Stephanie with our family. She has been and will remain, an inspiration and very bright spot in our lives!

Heaven has been immensely enriched with Stephanie’s homecoming!

God Bless each and every one of you. Bret

  22. Mary Kucera Says:

I only briefly met Stephanie this past October when she was taking photographs at the Dallas 3 day. She’d told me her website and I first visited the week after the walk. I was extremely impressed with not only her talent for photography but by her upbeat personality and will to live. I was so touched by her posts that I became a frequent visitor of knockknock.com. It’s important to know that she touched the lives of many… even those she did not know. I am walking in Houston’s inaugural Avon walk this weekend (39 miles total over 2 days). I am dedicating my walk in celebration of Stephanie’s life and her courageous fight against breast cancer. May you find comfort in your memories and peace in knowing she is no longer in pain.

  23. Terri Bilger Says:

John, you know that Stephanie has been my inspiration for doing the 3Day this year. Now, especially facing my surgery, I realize how hard she fought. When I see the joy in her face on the web-site picture, it raises my spirits up so much. Even though I had probably only seen her a couple of times over the years she will always be in my heart.

May God’s peace and blessings be with you, David, Jennifer and both yours and Stephanies extended families.

    Always, Terri

  24. Susan Brents-Sheldon Says:

I’ve known Stephanie since we were in the All Saints girls’choir together and our families became good friends and shared a lot of good times, laughter, camping and ski trips.
Steph, Elaine, Kim, and I learned to ski together at Ruidoso and Stephanie somehow convinced all of us to go down our first black diamond expert slope together. Stephanie and I also shared a love for art and went through all the honors art classes together at Heights. Since I found out about the recurrence of cancer in June and started reading the blog, I’ve been “seizing the day” and have completed more paintings than I have in years. Her courage and faith have touched me so much. She came to my mother’s funeral 2 years ago, and I’ve been thinking all day of the two of them together in heaven.
I have been praying for your family and will continue to do so. Susan Sheldon

  25. Todd Gray Says:

    John and family,

Our world will certainly miss the lovely person that Stephanie was while here on this earth. I remember often the times we all got together with the Anderson’s for food, fun, and just hanging out together. I heard the news yesterday when Susan called and have been reviewing this lovely link this morning. What a wonderful testament to the spirit Stephanie displayed!

Stephanie was a wonderful nurse, a loving mother and wife, and an example to all of us to live each day as if it were our last. God promises us nothing more here on this earth. Let us all remember the wonderful gift that He gave us in Stephanie. I am proud to have called her my friend.

May God continue to bless you and your family, John. My prayers are with you all.

    Todd Gray

  26. Gail Morris Says:

Praying all of the family and close friends are surrounded by God’s strength in the week’s ahead.

  27. Teri Says:

WOW, what do you say to that! Here all along, you NEVER heard Steph complain about anything… I will hope to live in her sunray of such a great friend, person, mentor, sister, daughter, and mother. Steph will be missed by all, keep you sights on the Heavens above - for I can’t wait till we all get to rejoice once again. With all my love, thoughts and prayers Teri Wagner-Decker
