Breast cancer confirmed!

Well today was the day. To be quite honest, I’m not sure how I feel; good is the right answer. They have confirmed the cancer is indeed breast metastasis and it involves the entire liver. There is a questionable spot in my spine but for now we will monitor it. The tests are hopeful. They drew a circulating tumor maker and it needed to be less than 5. It was. They say this is not a curable cancer but hope to make it manageable. He does not like the size of my tumors but as of now, my liver is functioning as it should. Dr. Valero said I have failed both traditional chemo and hormonal therapy.
He gave us two choices: a new chemo or hormonal treatment. He would like to try a new hormonal therapy. He has seem good results with it and they are presenting this at a national conference. We are going to give it a try. We will be able to do this from home. I have a list of lab work he wants to monitor. I have his pager number and we will have a conference call every week. We will repeat our CTs in 6 weeks if all goes as planned. If not, we will be able to begin the chemo protocol anytime at home.
Well that’s all for now. We will packing and heading for home in the morning. I am very ready to be home. I miss you all!
